THE INSPIRED TRIBE:

Meet Lauren

Meet Lauren, the newest member of our Inspired Tribe.

Lauren has a smile that can light up the darkest of rooms. She radiates happiness, hard work, and love – sharing her passion and experiences with the world to help women and girls fall in love with who they are.

You can feel her smile and compassion from across the world, and we can’t wait for you to meet her!

WHO IS LAUREN?
She loves adventure & travel, peanut butter & bananas, yoga & the beach, sunshine & being barefoot.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, she has spent the last two years exploring and experiencing New Zealand and Australia. Lauren currently calls Sydney home, where she is an educator at lululemon athletica and teaches yoga at a local studio. Inspired by her educational background in social work, her passion for yoga & her personal experience with anorexia nervosa, she has recently launched her own website called Love Body Yoga. Love Body Yoga is an initiative that introduces yoga as a step on the journey to eating disorder recovery and a pathway to loving our bodies.

WHAT IS YOUR WILDEST GOAL?
I own my own yoga studio/social work practice that offers counseling, yoga, and other programs for women and girls with eating disorders. The studio is a tranquil and serene place where people feel settled and at peace in. In addition to this studio, I continue to run my online yoga website, blog and forum, Love Body Yoga. I am also part of other organizations and initiatives that challenge merchants of body hatred that turn women and girls against their bodies. The work I do each day inspires, challenges and excites me in creating positive change for women and girls.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE?
My greatest challenge has been diving in: to not be afraid to fail, to take chances & to make mistakes. One of my biggest areas for growth is dropping self-doubt and fear, and seeing everything as a lesson and an opportunity to evolve and grow.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN LIFE IS OUT OF BALANCE?
I become overwhelmed and feel too tired. I often have a lot going on and have learned that I need to listen to my physical, emotional & mental self when it’s time to rest. Headaches, mood imbalances & lack of focus are my biggest indicators that I need to relax and rejuvenate.

WHAT LESSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD?
Be kinder to yourself. Do things for you that make you feel good.  Take care of yourself – mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Stop the negative self-talk & override it with positive affirmations.

Remember: Self-kindness blossoms into self-love, and from which self-empowerment grows.

DO YOU HAVE A DAILY ROUTINE TO TREAT YOUR MIND & BODY?
I wake up with the sun each morning and have a healthy breakfast & cup of tea. I practice yoga & meditation daily, and always make sure to have some ‘me’ time. This might include taking a walk or reading a book. I love being outdoors and almost every day spend time in the sun and by the ocean.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE WAY TO GET EXERCISE?
Power Yoga – I love an energized, fiery and sweaty session where I can really tune into the movement and flow of my body and breath.
